We’re always looking for an excuse to land in Aspen, Colorado, especially in August when the East Coast's heat and humidity are weighing us down.
Fresh air (and sweet mountain views) aside, we were thrilled to partner with Anderson Ranch, a non-profit arts education center in Snowmass Village, to frame over sixty pieces of art being auctioned off on August 9th during their biggest fundraiser of the year. Our friends at Paddle8 hosted the auction online.
For those who aren’t familiar, Anderson Ranch is a pretty special place. Once a working cattle ranch, the property was converted to the campus it is today around the time when skiing eclipsed cattle (before luxury retail eclipsed skiing) as Aspen’s big business in 1970s. Today, the ranch hosts over 140 workshops for close to 1,000 aspiring artists every summer, in addition to providing artist residencies and regular lecture series for the Aspen community. The disciplines offered include everything from ceramics (housed in a circa 1800s barn) to painting and furniture design.
For a rearview look at the incredible art that was up for grabs at the event, check out the auction catalog here. One of our personal favorites was The Territory Between the Real and The Idea by Burnham Arndt, which we thought looked best in our natural wood frame (it's versatile like a little black dress).
