Who: Meg McMillin, a Chicago-based fashion and design blogger known for her seemingly effortless, down-to-earth style.
What: The perfect living room piece - an original, commissioned painting by Virginia Chamlee - framed in our Walnut Gallery frame.
From Meg:
“This piece carries so much meaning for me. I had it commissioned by artist Virginia Chamlee after stumbling across a different version of the painting first. When I read the phrase "only this and nothing more", I felt such a rush of emotion and I actually choked up a little. I knew I needed those words hanging where I could see them every day. I'm a stay-at-home mom of two and, like everyone, this past year of pandemic living has been the most challenging and eye opening of my life. Reading that phrase made me feel instantly at peace. I felt like it summed up an entire year of hard lessons in one brief moment. I interpreted it as a reminder that everything that truly matters, my family and this home we've created, is right here with me at all times. At the end of the day it really is all I need.
Meg’s children James and Shea show a budding interest in art! We can already see they have excellent taste.
I was so happy to find this artwork because I had been searching for a large scale piece to complete our family room for over a year. I stumbled upon Virginia's gorgeous and unique work last summer while aimlessly scrolling through the art section on Chairish. I came across the original version of my painting and immediately stopped scrolling. As much as I loved the original, I wanted something a little more customized to my home and style. So, I reached out to Virginia with the hopes I could commission a piece and was so thrilled when she took on the project. She was an absolute DREAM to work with and I look forward to filling my home with more of her beautiful work in the future.
Once I received the artwork, the next decision was how to frame it. My home is filled with lots of different wood textures, so I was instantly drawn to the Walnut Gallery style while browsing the Simply Framed designs. The shade is so beautiful, and I knew it would contrast perfectly with the lighter neutrals and peachy hues in the painting. The color and quality is even more stunning in person!"
