There’s something so exciting about watching a project from start to finish.
For the last few years, Joy Cho, founder of the popular design and lifestyle blog Oh Joy!, has shared bits and pieces of her home construction with her readers. In her posts, she’s detailed the entire process, covering everything from the initial land purchase to logistical pandemic challenges to the finishing decor touches.
All of her hard work has paid off. The final reveal is here, and her brand new home is absolutely gorgeous!
We loved looking through Joy’s photos and wanted to share a few of our favorites featuring Simply Framed frames. If you missed our earlier post on Joy’s daughters’ bedroom and crafting room (spoiler alert: they’re seriously adorable), you can take a look here.
We’ve always been fans of the way Joy pairs neutral, minimalist styles with bold, contrasting colors. This gallery wall, styled on a custom shelving unit in the living room, is a clever way to mix and match prints.
Art Credits from top to bottom: Collage Print – #88 by Dudes Think Pink, Floral painting by Jenny Vorwaller, Photo Print by Max Wanger, Endless Love Green by Sandra Poliakov for Society6, Photo Print by Bonnie Tsang. Joy’s combination of colors and textures creates an artful, eclectic look. The velvet, emerald couch with the lavender rug is an unexpected pairing that works perfectly.
In the dining room, Joy hung this oversized family portrait by Max Wanger, framed in our Natural Gallery Deep frame. In a space meant for gathering, adding a family photo to the wall is a nice, homey touch.
Upstairs, Joy selected this funky Red Lips Print by Banquet Workshop, to hang above the towel rack in the girls’ bathroom. The bold pop of red, paired with the soft blush tiles and walls, creates the perfect balance of modern and glam.
The main bedroom is a color lover’s dream. The jewel-toned headboard and bedding create an inviting relaxation haven. The gallery wall above the bed, featuring a mix of original paintings and prints, adds visual texture and ties in the greens and blues throughout the room.

This custom-made headboard uses three varying shades of blue and green velvet for a subtle ombre effect and spans the entire wall behind the bed for a look that’s equal parts cozy and cool!
Thanks for sharing this process with us, Joy! For additional details and photos, you can read more about Joy’s complete home journey on her blog.
